Who Needs Sleep? – The Party Babies Theme Song

by Babe_Chilla on August 8, 2010 · 5 comments

For all my #partybaby mama’s out there, this has been running through my mind for weeks:

Who Needs Sleep? – The Barenaked Ladies

Now I lay me down not to sleep
I just get tangled in the sheets
I swim in sweat three inches deep
I just lay back and claim defeat

Chapter read and lesson learned
I turned the lights off while she burned
So while she’s three hundred degrees
I throw the sheets off and I freeze

Lids down, I count sheep
I count heartbeats
The only thing that counts is
that I won’t sleep
I countdown, I look around

Who needs sleep?
well you’re never gonna get it
Who needs sleep?
tell me what’s that for
Who needs sleep?
be happy with what you’re getting
There’s a guy who’s been awake
since the Second World War

My hands are locked up tight in fists
My mind is racing, filled with lists
of things to do and things I’ve done
Another sleepless night’s begun

Lids down, I count sheep
I count heartbeats
The only thing that counts is
that I won’t sleep
I countdown, I look around

Who needs sleep?
well you’re never gonna get it
Who needs sleep?
tell me what’s that for
Who needs sleep?
be happy with what you’re getting
There’s a guy who’s been awake
since the Second World War

Who needs sleep?
well you’re never gonna get it
Who needs sleep?
tell me what’s that for
Who needs sleep?
be happy with what you’re getting
There’s a guy who’s been awake
since the Second World War

There’s so much joy in life,
so many pleasures all around
But the pleasure of insomnia
is one I’ve never found
With all life has to offer,
there’s so much to be enjoyed
But the pleasures of insomnia
are ones I can’t avoid

Lids down, I count sheep
I count heartbeats
The only thing that counts is
that I won’t sleep
I countdown, I look around

Hala Hala Hala

Who needs sleep?
well you’re never gonna get it
Who needs sleep?
tell me what’s that for
Who needs sleep?
be happy with what you’re getting
There’s a guy who’s been awake
since the Second World War

And just in case you want to hear it?

OMG!!! I was a huge fan of BNL back in the day and totally forgot about this song. I needed this song Thursday and Saturday nights, both of which I slept MAYBE a hour each. Also, my daughter was dancing her little butt off when I played the video!

Is it just me or does BNL always have 89 verses in every song? It’s a terrible problem when trying to sing Karaoke.

Again, I hear ya on the sleep issues. My girly had 5 good nights in a row and then cried off an on from 2:30-5:30.

Really kid???? SLEEP for heavens sake. It’s not that bad!!!!

I linked to the same youtube video back in March when S was stirring all night long. http://beingmomnow.blogspot.com/2010/03/who-needs-sleep.html
I thought I was never going to be able to sleep well again…always waiting till his fussiness escalated to go in and check on him. The good news? He sleeps through the night almost every night now. So it might seem bad now, but don’t worry- things will get better eventually! Until then? Keep singing. :)

Thanks! Did you do anything special to help him along?

It’s funny that I’m not the only one who linked to it lol!
